Just the Facts
Yes, Black People Do That
There have been so many things that have been said that Black people just don’t do. Black people don’t swim, they don't surf, they don’t hike, and they definitely don’t climb mountains - right? Wrong. In 2006 Sophia Danenberg became the first African American and first black woman from anywhere in the world to climb Mt. Everest - the highest mountain in the world. Expedition Denali, a group of 9 adventurers ages 19-57 made history as the first team of African Americans to climb Mt. Denali. By taking on the grueling, 20,310 foot peak of the continent's biggest mountain, these Black men and women set out to prove that "there is no place on earth that should go unappreciated by black people" because the world is ours and the fullness therein.
